President & CEO of Glew Engineering Consulting Inc.

Dr. Alexander Glew has practiced engineering for 30 years.  He founded Glew Engineering Consulting 20 years ago after a decade at Applied Materials. His practice at Glew Engineering Consulting includes product design, semiconductor device analysis, semiconductor equipment design and analysis, laboratory analysis, IC tear downs, project turn-around, and market studies.

Semiconductor Equipment Expert

He began his career began with a decade at Applied Materials in various engineering roles: product development, project management, and supplier quality management.  His served as a core technologist was in the area of ultra-high purity chemical systems.

Materials Science

He holds a doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering. His dissertation was in plasma CVD of diamond-like carbon (DLC), fluorinated DLC,  and low k dielectrics. He has extensive experience in thin film processing, equipment, and characterization.  His background in mechanical engineering makes him equally comfortable in mechanical,  thermal and electrical properties of materials.

Mechanical Engineer

Dr. Glew is a licensed professional engineer (P.E.) in California, in the mechanical engineer branch, license number M26690.  He practices mechanical engineering and materials science engineering.  He also performs finite element analysis (FEA)  and computation fluid dynamics  (CFD).

Expert Witness

Dr. Glew is experienced in providing IP litigation support, including patents, trade secrets, and economic espionage.  He has also testified in large-scale industrial accidents, technology contracts, and arbitration. He has testified before the Federal District Court, Tokyo High Court, International Trade Commission, and in International Arbitration.  His testimony has contributed to findings of patent infringement, patent invalidity, inequitable conduct, and responsibility for significant damages.

  • Ph.D. Materials Science and Engineering Stanford University
  • M.S. Materials Science and Engineering Stanford University
  • M.S. Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
  • B.S. Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley.

He holds four patents, one of which he prosecuted, in the fields of tungsten chemical vapor deposition, and ultra high purity and high-temperature valves, and thin film heater and chuck design for processing chambers.
