Dr. Watts has spent over 30 years developing products that use or enable high resolution patterning. He is a photolithography expert, and also has a range of experience that includes imprint, optical lithography, injection molding, inspection, and etch. He has assisted or directed teams developing products all the way from LCD backlights that utilize roll-to-roll processing to imprint systems and resist materials. He was one of the founding team at Molecular Imprints Inc, the worlds only VC funded imprint start up, and is a named inventor on all their basic patents.
His experience includes, technology assessment, requirements definition, design specification, prototype development, business development, market analysis, technology forecasting, process design, project management and statistical data analysis for startups' and large companies that need high resolution patterning or use semiconductor processes and equipment.
Patents
Dr. Watts has a total of 30+ patents, and has participated in eight cases as a designated expert, in depositions and as a testifying witness. He has experience with running prior art searches, analysis of claims, and has assisted in patent prosecution.
His awards include Nanotech 2005, ACE Award 2005 from EE Times, and a United States Display Consortium for flat panel inspection equipment.
He performed Postdoctoral research at the University of Massachusetts, specializing in ultra high modulus polymers. He earned his Ph.D. and BsC. at the University of Manchester, England, in Polymer Materials Science.
